Honestly, I think it’s a sign that a) it’s fucking cold over there so no american journalist wants to go. b) There’s not an active Ukrainian contingent in America (no market) so publishers don’t want to pay a lot to cover the story and c) it’s actually rather complicated. there’s a multi-year political corruption scandal/power grab going on, multiple competing parties which don’t break down ideologically and headless protests.

Also, everyone’s name is hard to pronounce.

good points. I think the complicated narrative is a big factor. Without a side to root for American audiences aren’t much interested.
