I see no reason for Putin to stop. The Russian military can just dig in. They don’t need to go any farther right now.

“Liberating” the eastern portions of Ukraine from “nazis” is enough to celebrate and keep up his propaganda effort aimed at his own people.

If Russia keeps the territory they now occupy liberated, what will happen in the coming months or years?

Do you think the nations of the world will keep up a boycott over that much time?

Many nations need to trade with Russia, if for nothing else than for fossil fuel products.

What if Putin can cling on expecting many nations to simply tire of the issue.

Americans certainly will. Come the election in the fall I suspect that the Ukraine will not be a campaign issue, if the war simply drags on in some sort of stasis.
