only in a strict legal definition. colloqually, they’re frequently both referred to as ‘stealing’. i don’t care if you stole my watch or fenced my watch; either way, you stole it. see what i mean?

A person who is known to publish secret information obtained by others, who makes it known that he is in that particular business, becomes, then, the magnet for people wishing to take and disseminate information. He has become the thief, just as much as the person who does the actual thieving.

That’s how I see it, anyhow.
