“Liberal” and “conservative” are meaning-free terms outside of context. In the US, they almost entirely map to “Supports the Democrats” or “Supports the GOP”. That is becoming less true, as the GOP heads into total insanity.

There’s so many different areas, too: social conservatives are a totally different thing from law-and-order conservatives.

It’s all a rich tapestry.
