I don’t think it will hit them until someone tries to keep Obama off the ballot in 2012 over his birth certificate. As soon as that happens, whoever the nominee is will have it firmly tied as an albatross around their neck, even if they push back against it.

I think it’ll show that the GOP, as a party, is one that is totally fractured. The national leadership is going to have to explain why, if they don’t believe all the Birther bullshit, that they’re not getting on state governments who apparently not only do, but are acting upon it in an effort to deny Obama votes within their borders.
