Umm, I think you’re thinking of another movie there, though, in the original The Longest Yard, what got Paul Crewe (Reynolds’ character) thrown in prison was smacking and throwing his sugar momma around, stealing her car (a Citroen DS that was referred to as a Maserati in the dialogue LOL) and leading the cops on a high-speed chase, then assaulting the cops who caught him in a bar after he drove the car into the bay.

It was an SM, which had a Maserati V6 engine.
