What it is is the continuation of the shit they heard growing up from their parents and grandparents who fought against integration and the dismantling of Jim Crow. You know, the ones who (when they think they can’t be heard) bitch and mutter about how things were so good until “those uppity ni-CLANGs” (i.e. Parks, Dr King, Malcolm X, etc) started causing a ruckus and disrupting civil society. They miss the days when the black man “knew his place,” didn’t “rise above his station,” and view the last 50+ years as a failure because we moved away from “traditional values.”
