It was a fishing expedition, putting document after document in front of him in the hopes that they’d either trip him up or get him to admit something they weren’t already aware of. And when that failed, they tried to embarrass him about his former addictions and instead found that he’s comfortable admitting he’s a recovering addict. And then they embarrassed themselves by invoking testimony from “witnesses” only for the guy in the hot seat to point out that one’s in prison, one’s in jail pending trial, two are on the lamb, and the last is a disgraced conman.
