I fucking agree with this. I think a draft would … make Americans more prone to caring about if we got in a war by making them realize it might be their sons or daughters who were getting caught up in it.

I disagree with everything else in the post, but this part is spot on.

The chicken hawk wing of the right would certainly be a lot less eager to rattle sabers if they actually had a stake in it.
