A word of advice for anyone who deals with Confederate apologists in the future, ask them about General Patrick Cleburne. Cleburne proposed freeing slaves to fight alongside hte Confederates. They refused his request and many historians believe that despite being one of the best generals in the Western theatre, this was why he was never promoted to major general. Cleburne died at the BAttle of Franklin, a brigadier general.
