When you criticise a black person using a stereotype that’s used to denigrate blacks, then yes, that’s racist. (And in a world where “The Bell Curve” was hailed as “brave”, reducing a black person who has achieved so much in so many fields to simply an “athlete” fits that bill.) Racisim comes in many guises, and it’s all “real” racism. And no, we’re not going to let others define what racism is, or have dictated to us what we “should” be offended by.

No one said he was stupid or he could jump higher than McCain. It was a typical political cheap shot. Would you have felt better if they had said he spends too much time on the golf course? Of course not, the presidents defenders would have found some way to turn that into a racist dog whistle too. Like I said earlier, if they make fun of him for being a scholar, thats racist. If they make fun of him for being an athlete, that’s racist too. What exactly are we allowed to make fun of this president for that you wouldn’t consider racist?
