Interesting (or maybe not) sidenote: the Yiddish word “shaytel” (the wig) is a direct derivative of the German word for “crest” - like a bird’s.
The Orthodox Jewish custom, as I understand it, is that hair is for maidens. Once you get married, your shave your head and wear either a shaytel or a Jewish hijab in public.
Do Haredim get turned on by shaved skulls?
