Nelson Rockefeller was quite an art collector. He also liked large public monuments. Check out the Albany Mall if you don’t believe me!

Years ago I testified in front of a committee of the NYS legislature in Albany. The Mall was new. I complimented the chairman of the committee on the enormous, magnificent new facility. He replied, “You may like it, but the taxpayers of the state of New York will be paying for it for the next 30 years!”

As for “communist” symbols in the art, Nelson was far closer to Mussolini than to Stalin in his tastes.
