re: #135 Charles Johnson

Well, I took my beloved 30 inch Apple Cinema Display into the Apple Store today, after calling some local repair shops and finding out that no independent dealer will fix it. One of the shops I called actually told me that even Apple wouldn’t fix these monitors any more because they were so out of date.

But that was wrong - Apple does fix these monitors, for a flat rate price of… feel the pain approaching… $500. Ow. And they have to ship it to a “repair depot.”

But the alternative is buying a new one. The biggest monitor Apple makes now is 27 inches, and it’s more than $1000. So I bit the bullet and went for the repair.

Ouch!!!! quick check on Ebay, used 30 inchers in excellent shape are going for 800 bucks, even ones is rough condition are 350 and up. I do see where the control boards are running about 60 bucks, so maybe risk that first?
