Here’s one good argument against anyone trying the “GOP base voters are decent people that are just being lied to by their media” excuse:

Republican candidates run on performative cruelty, like Abbott’s stunt with the saw blades at the border. In order for that to be politically effective, it has to run, as cruelty, in right wing media, which it does.

Cruelty as entertainment is upstream of nearly all right wing shit.
