You’re using one of the most effective tools for such organizing right now.

Protests are completely ineffective. Huge numbers of people turned out to protest the war in Iraq on dozens of occasions in hundreds of locations. And we’re still there. Protests against the Vietnam war dwarfed those involving Iraq, and went on for years - with no effect. Protests are part of the background noise. They accomplish nothing, except as already noted.

As for disseminating information, all any voter ever has to do is pick up a newspaper or turn on a radio. It’s no secret that the proposed Federal budget sports a phantasmagorically huge deficit; it’s been all over the news for months.
