While this is a huge inconvenience and could mean repairs down the road (burst pipes, etc), a lot of people have the right attitude—instead of griping, they took the holiday w/them.

Unfortunately, because so many trees collapse onto power lines, Duke Energy makes it a point to “clear cut” around power lines and they will do it with or without your permission if tree branches come over from your property onto their right of way. I’ve seen old growth trees that look so awful they probably should just be taken down.
