I never played organized football, but my friends and I would play tackle football in the park. In fact, from high school (in the early/mid 90s) until a couple of years ago we used to get together on Thanksgiving morning for a game. It was tackle until maybe the last three or four years. I like the game - I enjoy college ball more than the NFL, if only because college teams do different things - but I wouldn’t want my kid playing it either. My nephews are playing basketball, soccer, and now baseball - and in a few years they’ll get swimming and water polo (that’s a family wide thing - my sister and I, as well as my sister’s ex all played high school and after (JC and years of club polo for me, JC/Div 3 for their dad, and Div 3 for my sister) so they’re going to have to at least try it). I’m stoked on that (and my niece is apparently going to be a softball star).
