The immigrants of the illegal type get free stuff. What’s not to love?

That’s just it. Illegal immigrants are disproportionately poor and low-skilled. Even if they pay taxes (and some do), it isn’t much because they don’t earn much. I can’t lay my hands on it right now, but there’s a study indicating that illegal immigrants consume more in services than they produce in tax revenue. (There’s probably another study asserting exactly the opposite, but based on what I see at my local public health department, emergency rooms, and elementary schools, I pick the former.)
