Um, Khazars? The Khazars converted to Judaism. See the Russian primary chronicles; it was a Khazar delegation that attempted to persuade the Russians to shed paganism and become Jews (and a muslim delegation tried to do the same, but the Russians became Christians because “drink is the joy of the Russes.”)
