re: #133 The Very Reverend Battleaxe of Knowledge

A lot of people ask why Indiana is being singled out for criticism and boycotts because of this legislation and not the many other states that have similar laws. I’ve thought about it, and it’s invidious and prejudicial and all that bad stuff, but I’ll bet in most people’s minds it’s the underlying reason.

It’s because nobody expects any different in the former Confederacy or Mormonia—but this is an incursion into the heartland of the Union. “This far and no farther”!

Indiana’s being given shit because the bill is in response to wingnuts getting their panties in a wad over a bakery in Indianapolis that got shit for not wanting to bake a wedding cake for a gay couple because it “violated” their “deeply held” beliefs. You might remember them being paraded around by the wingnuts, portrayed as “victims” of “intolerance.”

Plus Pence is the subject of “will he or won’t he?” rumors about considering a 2016 presidential run, hence the big song and dance about this law “protecting” people from “government overreach.”
