You all are pretty rough on Mr. Snowden. I did not agree with the way he dumped everything out there, but I see why he was upset at what was going on. Still angry at him not caring until Obama was elected but better late than never. America needed to know what was going on to their own citizens by the government, all that other stuff about foreign leaders was not needed though.

I find it extremely difficult to believe that TheTrueHooHaw (Snowden’s apparent user name for some blogging) was sincerely upset by government surveillance, based on his comments. He seemed like a fairly conventional libertarian knuckle dragger in those posts, including explicit disapproval of whistle blowers IIRC.

This has colored my perception of the Snowden case. Having the stolen classified material almost certainly falling into the hands of Russian and Chinese intelligence doesn’t help.

That said, surveillance state issues in the US post-9/11 are real. It’s just a damn shame that Snowden made it all about him.
