To me this can be compared with the YECs that acknowledge the sheer force and strength of the evolutionary theory (instead of just denying it) but still accept the young Earth.

I respect their intellectual honesty and if there are to be YECs, I’d rather that they were of this rare sort, they wouldn’t push their beliefs in schools, they don’t lie about science etc. - but I still gotta wonder how they tick with such an enormous cognitive dissonance, and why.

Same with the people who acknowledge that the scriptures were not simply written down by people but were at least in large part a product of their minds (and hence of the environment). Socially, I welcome them more than “each word was inspired” crowd”, but intellectually I understand the latter more than the former.

I also cannot but notice that as far as ancient scriptures go, they must be combed through to find a few still good and relevant parts, i.e. the texts are basically being tortured in order to conform to the modern liberal views, not vice versa.
