I’m with Darthstar, in spades. The consequences are going far beyond the GOP.

I don’t feel sorry for the GOP on Trump’s account. They continue to hold the majority of state houses and governorships, as well as both houses of congress. And what’s even more remarkable is that as ridiculous as Trump is, he’s within single digits of HRC.

The downside is for the nation as a whole. Not that we would have been assured of an informative campaign either way, but the atmosphere of Trump means our usually rather dumbed down political debates will be ratcheted down even further.
