re: #141 Love-Child of Cassandra and Sisyphus
Not only is the $1 bill (Treasury note) obsolete, but so is the $5 and $10 bills. Who uses $10 bills regularly? I don’t.
The US Mint needs to come out with replacement coins for those denominations.
When I lived in Japan, the 500 Yen coin was very useful. The 100 Yen coin is standard for stores.
They can’t eliminate the $1 for the same reason they can’t eliminate the 1¢: Too much pressure from business and vending machine industries.
Additionally, the government won’t make $1 coins in the proper size (the size of silver dollars) so they get confusing (especially Susan B. which looks too much like a quarter).
