There was a comment yesterday comparing crypto to the pet rock fad, and I wanted to dispute that for one vitally important reason: A pet rock remains useful even after its lost value, if only to throw at the head of a crypto-bro who won’t shut the fuck up about how much he’s gonna make when he cashes out “eventually.”

another difference is no one ‘invested’ in pet rocks in the hope they’d increase in value.
