We are getting derailed on what “courtship” we were talking about: It is not just a matter of chaperones, petticoats, dorm room doors open 8” when male visitors are present and and both feet on the floor at all times, etc.

It is, as you said, about taking the time to get to know a person and gain an impression of how they react in certain situations before allowing yourselves to grow physically intimate with them.

I personally have little interest in having sex if the other partner is not willing. I might wheedle, beg, grovel, negoatiate, even lie, but I have never physically forced anyone to and hope I never will.

But there are plenty who have and would.
