Since we’ve been talking about the Mi-24 Hind, here’s another interesting piece, which talks about how an Mi-24 purchased by the Sudan has been operating in Benghazi.

The UN panel of experts has reported that Sudan has leased three Mi-24/35 combat helicopters to Libya in contravention of the arms embargo. One of the helicopters crashed in July 2013 and photographs posted on the Binina Airbase’s Facebook page indicate that at least one (an Mi-24/35P with serial number 959) of the two survivors is currently operating in support of Haftar’s forces.

The ‘Haftar’ mentioned is of course General Haftar, who has been fighting the Islamist radicals. As you might have guessed, I wrote that lead in as a form of clickbait, forming it as wingnuts might. The twist is that the Hind I mentioned is being used against the militias responsible for the 2012 Benghazi Attack.
