His definition of racism and yours differ, though both are valid. His involves the power structure, so racism for him is racial prejudice in support of the white supremacist power structure, whereas you’re just defining it as racial prejudice - although it’s not clear to me that even that applies here. I don’t think it’s racial prejudice to acknowledge that, given the current situation, that the needs/wants of blacks may not be the same as the needs/wants of whites.

I just think it’s a dumb thing to say, if you actually expect to have change happen.

His definition seems contrived to support his beliefs and the racism of the black people he associates with. It’s not what “racism” actually means. Racism doesn’t have to involve any kind of power at all. Racial oppression is a different and worse thing.

Of course their needs aren’t actually any different than ours. Black Americans are still just regular Americans until they decide they aren’t. Seeing them be just as extreme as the wingnuts is very off-putting.
