Two things will happen: The networks will realize that they cannot make any kind of horse race out of it, no matter how hard they try, and they will get fed up with Trump and realize that he still guarantees ratings gold whether they are trashing him or fawning over him.

That’s quite true; it’s irrelevant whether they’re trashing Trump or slobbering over him - the man is an attention-getter, no doubt about it. Like I’ve said, he’s a self-aggrandizing carnival barker and he’s proven that he’s fairly successful at getting people to buy his particular brand of snake oil; there are people out there who genuinely idolize the man. Why that is, I don’t know - as far as I’m concerned, he’s always been little more than a flimflam artist, a confidence trickster.

What’s darkly amusing is this: IMHO, Trump’s doing this for his ego more than anything else. He wants to impress New York City’s ‘high society’ that he’s better than they are, because from what I gather, they’ve long been looking down at him as a boorish oaf; a “short-fingered vulgarian”, if you will. When he loses, he will become an even greater object of scorn and derision among NYC’s elite set than he already his. He will become the butt of jokes, a laughable and pathetic little man whose vanity and narcissism led to him making a contemptible ass of himself on a truly international stage.

I wonder how is ego will handle that realization? That he is, in fact, a loser.
