FedEx floating their excuse that they are a common carrier regulated by the Transportation Department (true) means they canāt discriminate on an organisationās political positions (true) means they canāt end their discount programme with the NRA (false).
FedEx generally wonāt deliver to where I live anyway, so if I was to say āIām boycotting FedExā that really doesnāt mean much. The nearest place I can go to a FedEx box or office is over fifty miles away.
On the other hand, the Post Office is no more expensive (really), and is one block away.
I only do business on-line with companies that use the US Mail or offer it as an option.
Interesting side story behind the hide bar because itās probably boring, from when we were selling our house in Oklahoma:
Weād already bought our house here in Nebraska for cash. That made moving a lot easier, since we didnāt have to move our stuff into storage first then use the money from the sale of our old home to buy our new home.
We dealt with an auction company to sell our old home; after the auction, the auctioneer hired a title company to clear the paperwork for the sale.
The title company called us up here to tell us they were going to send the paperwork by UPS overnight. We told them not to do that, because UPS doesnāt deliver here until they collect enough stuff to make the trip worthwhile; we suggested the Postal Serviceās Express Mail.
The title company insisted they would use UPS. We assured them we would turn around the paperwork and send it back USPS as soon as we got it.
It took the paperwork three weeks to get to us. The title company started harassing us on the telephone every day after the first week, to which all we could respond was āwe told you so.ā
When we sent the paperwork back by the Post Office, noting what UPS charged to send it to us and what the Post Office charged to send it back, the Post Office was cheaper by about a dollar.
