and i dont quite agree

the R congress and the press both and simultaneously abdicated when he was elected

as i see it, the R congress, without any prodding, gave up its oversight role and a lot of its constitutional authority

the press forgot how the truth fits in with their job

we keep saying “no other president…” because congress and the media somewhat always did their jobs until he came along

Following comments apply only to the post-Nixon world:

Democratic Congresses always did their jobs because they cared about the institutions. Republican Congresses — not so much. You think they did their job when they investigated Benghazi over and over and over again? When they sabotaged anything that Obama proposed? When they refused to consider Merrick Garland? When Newt Gingrich had a temper tantrum and shut down the government in the 1990’s?

The media? they certainly didn’t do their job when Bush 43 was leading us to war against Iraq. And they were responsible for promoting Trump because he was good for their bottom line and they did all they could to damage Hillary because too many were misogynists at heart.
