Reading between the lines it’s pretty clear he had a serious problem with Omidyar, possibly leading to a blowout argument and a “leave of absence” that turned into a complete bail-out within hours. Publicly he’s doing the usual “it was a privilege to work with these people and I’m sorry it didn’t work out” dance, but it had to have been pretty nasty.

I saw that Omidyar also promised Tiabi his own venue that was supposed to launch this week. I’m sure canceling that didn’t help. Omidyar made some noises about refocusing resources to improve the Intercept, which I took as “We are so in over our heads here.”

I mean, shit, it’s not easy publishing The Article That Will Bring Down America every three months. Journalizm iz hard.
