Not to make an excuse, but many a rocker has liked to be outrageous without thought. Pissing people off was a large part of the whole early metal movement. Volume. Drugs. Hair, Dress, Symbols, whatever made you a dangerous bad ass was the thing.

Yeah it is stupid. But there has been some pretty stupid stuff in Rock’n’Roll.

Oh, I know, believe me. But I never liked musicians dressing up as Nazis. It goes way beyond bad taste. I know they were trying to piss people off. It worked.
