Heh you jest but here’s what frustrates me especially about my fellow white Southerners. A lot of them still aren’t over how the Civil War ended- why else wave a Rebel flag and have so many in your number who insist the CSA was right but these are the same folks who tell African-Americans to get over slavery and Jim Crow, the same people who tell Japanese-Americans to shut up about internment, etc. I am fine with listening to the concerns of the WWC but I want someone in punditry to tell these people that they need to be aware of other people’s concerns too and to be blunt a lot of people in the WWC hate hearing that. They hate being told to consider other people who look different from them. And that frankly is why they’ve gone Republican over the years. It’s not because the Dems abandoned them, it’s because resentment sells. And yes I’ll be the first to admit that we could have done a better job helping industrial areas transition post outsourcing too but how the hell were we going to do it when you had Reagan appealing to these people telling them about the horrors of big government and them eating it up.
