Told my kids today that they were going to be quizzed on identifying direct objects, indirect objects and semi-direct objects. This produced some hysterical scanning of grammar books until it dawned on one of them that I was kidding about the last category.

I bet if you actually put that in a quiz, to be answered in essay form, you would have gotten some interesting answers.
