Very obliquely related trivia tangent:
The cast of Gilligan’s Island all signed tragically terrible contracts with United Artists Television. In short, they all signed away their rights to royalties from re-runs. The show was in syndication for decades after they stopped being paid.
So, many of the actors ended up on the convention circuit, charging for autographs.
Same with Batman and Star Trek. Those cases kicked the SAG in the ass, I believe.
