Apparently so. As that screencap from MSNBC revealed, Martin was found on a grassy area. The incident may have started in a concrete area (sidewalk/driveway or street), but it clearly ended up on a lawn.

And I find the whole notion that the sidewalk as a deadly weapon to be complete nonsense. That’s like saying that any inanimate object is a deadly weapon. Push someone up against a tree? Deadly weapon. Against a wall? Deadly weapon. A push into the pool? Deadly weapon.

It is most certainly not a deadly weapon.

I dunno Lawhawk..If I held your head under water in a pool you will die..The pool wouldn’t be classified as a deadly weapon but it was used as an accessory in a murder. I didn’t hear the defense say that the sidewalk was a deadly weapon..But you can die having your head hit on a sidewalk.. Look at all the murder cases where somebody hit some one and they fell and busted up their head.
They are usually found guilty of Manslaughter..Which I think should have been the conviction..I think Murder 2 was a reach…
But Wait! This is Florida.. Anything can and will happen in the courts there. I never picked sides in this or any case coming from Florida..see Casey Anthony.
I would predict that if this would have happened in Oklahoma and Zimmerman didn’t shoot Martin the cops would have asked why George didn’t shoot him..You had a gun dumbass..Why didn’t you use it? I read the news here..Self defense is pretty easy to use here.. It’s an open carry state.. You get into a fight at your own peril. Everybody has a gun in Oklahoma.. I still laugh that the Banks have signs saying that guns are not allowed.. Wonder why?
