I did a similar thing with the Democratic party in 2000…I just could not bring myself to vote for Al Gore, nor did I want to squander my vote in protest, so I swallowed my vomit and voted Bush.

Something I came to regret almost immediately, but I just couldn’t.

Enough reasonable people voted for Bush for him to be elected (ignoring for now the Florida shenanigans). America was getting along okay, so sometimes change is good even when the result cannot be foreseen.

Didn’t help that Gore had the personality of milk carton.

Plus, 9/11 was a spanner in the works no one really could have expected.
