Not to mention the denomination was typed as “1000$”. Round these parts (and everywhere in the US I have been) it is written “$1000”.

I’ve seen that mistake made by students of mine and also some friends as well. It’s not entirely uncommon among Slavonic-language speakers and I’ve definitely seen it - a lot - with Turkish speakers.
