Which is why we’ve even got this discussion in the first place. The US won the territory that includes Nevada in war. It was federal land before the state of Nevada even existed. It’s that history that makes the whole discussion about federal land relevant (at least to those who understand that history, facts, and circumstances are key to distinguishing why the BLM and federal government controls so much land in certain western states).
