The thing that the far right wingnuts don’t seem to get is how very clearly, by bashing this, they are saying “we don’t read!” They are saying “we don’t want you to read either!”

Of course, when you listen to them go on about historical revision, ID, and AGW, it becomes clear how little they read.

How could anyone, but the most ignorant and disturbed possible think that Hitler was misunderstood, that the fascists were really leftist, that ID is science etc…

When you give them hard evidence after hard evidence to the contrary of whatever false talking point they make, do they look at it? Do they process it?

OF course not.

But they do know that an educated populace, the sort that actually does read and look for facts will not buy their crap.

It seems strangely obvious that this is why they are so against a beneficial speech on education. However, I don’t think that the true believers on the far right (or left, try convincing a moonbat of anything also) would see it in such obvious terms. To them, their paranoid fantasy world, that they have created on faith and reinforced by whispering to like minded hysterics, is the only truth. All that other evidence must be fake, and putting those facts in schools must all be part of a conspiracy.

It is a fabulous self reinforcing cycle of delusion.

It is also a cancer, that unwittingly attacks its cure.

The cure of course, being a real education.
