re: #80 May Day! May Day!

Poor journalism. We’ve had the reports all along. Why are they presented as something new?

What seems to be new for me, in a sense, is that this was a release of documents from the prosecutor.

From what I’ve seen so far, the documents don’t provide justification for the charge of murder. I was thinking that maybe the prosecutor had some evidence that hadn’t yet been released - evidence that undermined Zimmerman’s story…

It’s looking that that wasn’t the case. It would seem odd that the prosecutor would hold back on some of the evidence but release only evidence that, for the most part, backs what Zimmerman has claimed.

This looks like a case where SYG means that: someone trolling for trouble with a gun can instigate a confrontation (by profiling Martin), claim that he feared for his life subsequently, kill someone who was minding his own business prior to the confrontation, and walk.

This case is about SYG. The question is whether this incident will result in any modifications to the law. I like to hope so, but tend to doubt that there will be sufficient political will to overcome the NRA’s power and the political will of rightwingers and libertarians.
