Because mass incarceration of innocent people with mental illness is a far lesser evil than the tyranny of not letting them buy all the guns and ammo they could ever wish for.

It’s easier to dehumanize a large swath of the American population and incarcerate them indefinitely than it is to confront their cargo cult devotion to firearms.
