As I’ve mentioned before, my project this year is working on genealogy… so I’m going through US census records tracking down one g-g-grandfather, about whom I know quite a bit, and realize how fortunate we are to live in a country that was willing to actually take records of its citizens.

This gets me back to the anti-census wingnut outrages of 2010 - those people are so deep into their own hatred (and existential crisis about which they are in total denial) that they couldn’t accept that gathering information is much more productive than destructive.
