The thing that amuses me though about the right’s hatred of single working women is these guys are always lecturing about independence and self reliability. What could be more independent than a young woman living on her own and working a job? And then there was Glenn Beck’s equally puzzling statement about how New Yorkers should have elected someone like Giuiliani “who will care for them.” I’ve been making an effort to throw the nanny state label back at the right since in my book their morality desires are more nanny state than anything the left does.
