re: #1490 tradewind

Paternity is assumed through either birth of a child in a marriage, where the husband is assumed to be the father without question, or by birth certificate assertion by the mother (which is subject to challenge but the burden is on the challenger).
You can stipulate to a point in evidence in a trial, but that is an agreement between opposing counsels to speed up the process.
I would want paternity established even if I never wanted to see or hear from him again, to cover the child in the event circumstances required it…. extreme examples would be a medical matching type situations all the way to inheritance issues that are unimaginable at present …..think ‘he wins the powerball and is hit by a train’.

The problem with that is then he has legal rights to the baby.
He might even attempt to get custody in order to not have to pay child support and to hurt my daughter.
