Democrat JP Quintero arrested on 1 felony, 2 misdemeanor charges

Brazos County Justice of the Peace Ramiro Quintero was arrested Thursday on charges of felony tampering with evidence.
He also faces two Class A misdemeanor charges of unauthorized practice of law and receiving gifts as a public servant.

Authorities said the arrest followed a sting operation conducted by the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office after receiving a tip from an informant.

“We have been putting this thing together for the better part of two weeks,” Sheriff Chris Kirk said.

Quintero, a Democrat, has served Precinct 4 since he was first elected in 1998. He most recently won reelection in 2006, defeating Mike Fleming by 148 votes.
