I think that’s what’s behind the ‘Real American’ and ‘Real America’ talk - the idea that, even though most Americans live in a metro area, and/or near one coast or the other, that the folks who live in the middle, and/or out in the sticks are the REAL Americans.

You don’t have to be white to be a REAL American, though. But it helps, and you do have to believe what REAL Americans believe.
