Depending on how many candidates are alive for Super Tuesday… there is an outside chance for a brokered convention.

There’s the four early contests (IA, NH, NV, and SC) then there’s Super Tuesday which includes California, Texas, Massachusetts, Minnesota, North Carolina, and Virginia as the big states on March 3. Early/absentee voting in California is going to start around February 3, which happens to be the same day as the Iowa caucuses.

With that wrinkle of early voting happening when the first four contests are going on, we might not see the traditional field narrowing until after Super Tuesday.

In other words: shit could get real weird, man.

Now that California is part of the Super Tuesday contests, I see it more as that’s the day a whole bunch of candidates will throw in the towel.

California moving its primary seems to make it less likely to me of a brokered convention rather than more likely.’

If I was king of determining primaries, I would have every state conduct them on the same day.
